Dr. Louis Rice was born in Chipiona, Spain, where he spent the first 17 years of his life. At age 17, with a suitcase and $200 in his pocket, he left his family and home and came to America to pursue his own version of the American Dream.

While working as a personal trainer to help pay his way through college, he graduated with a B.S. in Human Nutrition and Biochemistry from University of Florida in 1998. Deciding that he loved the U.S., he decided to continue exploring, and as a member of the University of Florida Surf Team, he traveled to California to compete in the National Surfing Championships. It was then that he fell in love with the weather, beaches, and overall vibe of Southern California

In 2001, he completed his doctorate of chiropractic at Los Angeles College of Chiropractic. Shortly thereafter, he met Dr. Kosta Adamou and together they founded Atlas Wellness Center.  In addition to his passion for chiropractic and natural health care, he spends most of his time surfing, playing soccer, and traveling the world, and speaks English, Spanish, and French.  A former college-level competitive surfer himself, Dr. Rice also serves as the official doctor of chiropractic for the biggest surf competition in the world, the US Open of Surfing.  He is also the Team Chiropractor for the Orange County Roller Derby Girls.
